Preventive Dental Care

preventive dental careDr. Chris Pottorff and the team at Advanced Dental and Implant Care are strong advocates of preventive dental care. Preventive dentistry focuses on making sure you avoid damaging dental conditions such as tooth decay, implant failure, and gum disease. It is ensuring that you enjoy a healthy smile throughout your entire life. Preventative dental care includes a combination of recommended routine checkups, proper home care, and may consist of wearing a nightguard.

Preventative Dentistry Treatment Options

We offer many preventive dental care treatments to help you keep your smile in the best possible health. These services will include dental cleanings and fluoride treatments. As well as oral cancer screenings and dental implant maintenance appointments. We also specialize in All-on-4 implant hybrid bridge maintenance, consisting of an annual removal to make sure the supportive implants are healthy. Keeping up on your regular appointments will ensure that we detect and treat any early signs of damage. Ultimately, preventing more extensive, costly, and painful treatments.

Dr. Pottorff and our Hygienist will recommend that you follow these guidelines:

  • Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use fluoride toothpaste to remove food particles and plaque from the tooth surfaces. Also, be sure to brush the top surface of your tongue to remove any extra plaque-causing food particles to keep your breath fresh!
  • Clean between your teeth by flossing at least once a day. Decay-causing bacteria can linger between teeth where toothbrush bristles can’t reach. Floss will help remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.
  • Maintain a balanced, healthy diet with a limited amount of very sugary or acidic foods.
  • Schedule your regular checkups with Dr. Pottorff and our office every six months. Regular checkups include professional teeth cleaning, dental exam, and oral cancer screening.
